Scrimshaw is an early American
Folk Art. Often whalers began the
art of etching or carving vivid scenes of their long whaling voyages at sea, on hard surfaces, such as bone, teeth, shells, and other materials. Scrimshaw stands as a reminder of the History of the Golden Age of Whaling, and we encourage the appreciation and practice of scrimshaw today using our polymer "ivory" products. This process uses no animal products, helping all efforts being made on behalf of the endangered animals.
